Where we come from and where we are heading to

    Vision

EntoQ wants to be a driving force in facing one of the major challenges our food and ecosystem has to meet in the coming decades to come: the supply of sufficient protein to keep up with a sharply rising demand to produce food and feed – as well as the sustainable solution to attain this goal.

    Mission

EntoQ aims to make insect farming more accessible and wants to sustainably maximize the output for farmers. Our concept will allow them to bring more product to the market, giving the sector the opportunity to lower the price of insect protein. A sufficiently large supply at a price competitive with soybean and fishmeal would be the tipping point for the protein industry to switch to this more sustainable alternative. Thanks to the standardized nature of EntoQ’s farming infrastructure and the farming parameters used, results from different farmers can, for the first time, be compared to identify further optimizations.

    Contact Kris

    Four questions for Kris

What made you focus on innovative insect production?

Seeing the huge potential insects have to help our society become more sustainable combined with my past experience in agriculture and fundamental research

What were your major breakthroughs in the development of EntoQ?

Getting involved in the Entomospeed research project as representative for the Flemish engineering society (ie-net) and the cage development in collaboration with Inagro.

What do you see as EntoQ’s main differentiator?

    Louis Kruyfhooft

Louis Kruyfhooft has experience within Biology, Biomedical sciences, Bio-electronics and Nanotechnology. He worked for three years as a R&D scientist at a Black Soldier Fly farm in Belgium where he learned all principles of rearing processes as well as HVAC and extraction technologies.

    Contact Louis

    Four questions for Louis

What convinced you to be part of the EntoQ story?

The opportunities within the insect industry are too big to neglect and I want to be a part of this evolution.

What is according to you the key to success within the industry?

Starting with the understanding of all basic principles of insect rearing before taking it to a higher level.

Why do you believe EntoQ really is the game changer for the production of protein?

Since starting a business in the insect industry is not an easy undertaking, many companies are discouraged in starting one due to a lack of knowledge and experience. Here EntoQ can play a major role in supporting and helping such companies via exchange of information as well as offering state-of-the-art hard- and software tools.

EntoQ is your passion but what are your other interests?

Biology, nature management, fishing and restoring small machinery.
